What We Teach & Believe
What's Weymouth All About?
At Weymouth , the word "community" is in our name for a reason. We enjoy being together, serving together, and learning about God together. In fact, here's a simple way we've come up with to explain what we do: love God, serve people, and reach the world. That's why we exist, and that's what we focus on.
More specifically, Weymouth has been a traditional church with a strong emphasis on teaching God's Word, supporting world missions, and caring for people in a personal, "family-style" way. Today, we're seeking to enhance our ability to do those three key things by: |
 |
- reaching out to those seeking God. We're developing our church services and events so that first time guests feel comfortable and connected. We know that visiting a church for the first time can be a big "question mark" experience, so we're doing everything we can to make things simple, meaningful, and enjoyable. If you'd consider yourself a "pre-Christian" (someone considering faith, or wanting to know more), Weymouth will probably be a good fit for you.
- raising expectations. For many people, church is an extra in their lives - something they do on Christmas Eve or Easter to keep with family traditions. At Weymouth , we're taking it beyond that level. We offer dynamic small groups, ministry teams, and learning environments that can help you and your children meet God in a personal way. We have a lot of fun, give people an opportunity to make a positive difference, and have options for the whole family.
- revamping the Sunday experience. Too often people are turned off by church because they feel it is old-fashioned or hard to understand. That may be true for some churches, but it's certainly not what God intended! We use creative things like drama, video, a mix of traditional and contemporary music, and more to help people get the most out of their church experience. That's why we like to encourage people to try us for at least three weeks in a row, so they can get a good feel for how our church works and what type of congregation we are. Our 8:30 service is more of a traditional, reflective service while our 11:00 service is designed more for people that aren't used to church (it's a good place to start). We also offer 9:45 options, including a service that is more interactive and prayer oriented, along with Sunday School classes for all ages.
We're glad you've chosen to learn more about our fellowship, and we hope that you'll stick around. Our church "family" is a great place to grow in faith, develop in character, enjoy great friends, and make a positive difference in the world.
